We’re betting it all on simulation.

One genre, a world for every kind of player, from the hardcore veteran to the first-timer.

How we got here.

We met in our first year of high school and never really stopped talking. Early on, we both knew we wanted to build something of our own. The right moment just never seemed to show up.

Nikola had been writing code since he was a kid, so right out of school he took an internship at a game studio. It taught him two things at once. How games actually get made, and how much depth gets cut the moment a shortcut looks easier. He came away certain the work could be far better.

Then one afternoon, over coffee, all that talk finally turned into a decision. We knew we could make better games than the ones we were playing and shipping. So we stopped waiting for permission and started Hex-a-gon.

It was always going to be simulation. Between us we’ve sunk thousands of hours into the genre. Nikola lives in Cities: Skylines, Satisfactory and Factorio. Fedor goes deep on Hearts of Iron IV and Stellaris, taking apart every system just to see how it works.

But we never wanted to build only for people like us. Simulation should reach everyone, from a cozy colony you can fall into on your phone to the kind of deep grand strategy we grew up on. We’re building the whole range, and Cat Colony is where it starts.

what we believe

Depth is the whole point.

A world should outlive your attention.

If it doesn’t surprise us, it won’t surprise you.

One deep world beats ten shallow ones.

Two founders.
One long game.

Still early. Still building. If any of this resonates, we’d love to hear from you.
